COVID-19 Test

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The outbreak first occurred in December 2019 in Wuhan, China and by January 2020, it was a global health emergency, which later declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020.

SARS-CoV-2 is a single stranded RNA virus belonging to the family of Coronaviruses. The virus is primarily transmitted through droplets released from an infected person via coughs, sneezes or talks in close proximity to other individuals. People can also become infected by touching surfaces that have been contaminated with the droplets of infected persons. The time from exposure to onset of symptoms is typically around five days but may range from two to 14 days.Common symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, and loss of sense of smell and taste. Complications may include pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, multi-organ failure, septic shock, and blood clots.

Tests are available for detection of virus by Real Time RT-PCR and detection of antibodies post infection using FDA approved assay.

We provide reports for travellers and companion animals.
